Digital Filmmaking Summer Camp

Age range: 12-16 years

Dates: Monday 3rd August – Friday 7th August 2020

The youth film school is running a one week online Summer Camp . It takes place over five sessions, and participants will join in with the ZOOM video conferencing app.

This is an interactive group and the aim is to make a short film over the week.

The course will be run by Ewan Gorman, who has directed two feature films and numerous documentaries. Ewan’s enhanced DBS check is available on request.

The age range for the summer school is 12-16 years. (We will a run a separate group for Primary School age youngsters).

Two people can join with one ‘seat’, if there is more than one youngster at your end who wants to join. There will be five sessions, each of an hour – Monday to Friday 10am – 11am. Then there will be plenty of tasks to do between sessions.

No prior knowledge of filmmaking is required, as we will start from the basics.

PLEASE NOTE: All participants must have the use of a tripod and camera/smart phone plus access to a Laptop or tablet for editing.

We will use a free application for editing. We will have a screening of the finished films at the end of the week, plus all films will be put in the Youth Film School screening room, on our Vimeo account.

Some of the topics that will be covered include:

  • Story structure
  • What do you want to say?

  • Tripod techniques.
  • Moving the Camera. Sources of inspiration.
